Several reputable manufacturers dominate the market, each with distinct advantages. Key specifications to weigh: output (CFM or L/min) and maximum pressure rating (typically 200 or 300 bar).
Germany · the industry standard
Robust, durable marine-grade build with high fill capacity, advanced filtration stages, automatic condensate drains, and a global service network for parts and technicians.
Best for: General liveaboards, high-demand operations, premium vessels.
Italy · compact & efficient

Air Quality
The most powerful compressor is useless without an equally robust filtration system. Breathing compressed air at depth demands absolute purity — a multi-stage filtration system is non-negotiable.
Remove dust, rust, and other solid particles.
Eliminate oil aerosols and vapours from compressor lubrication.
Desiccant filters absorb water vapour, preventing tank rust and diver “dry mouth”.
Absorb odours and tastes for neutral, pleasant breathing air.
Reputable operators run regular air-quality tests to meet international standards such as EN12021 — testing CO, CO₂, O₂, oil mist, and moisture. Always ask about a yacht’s air-testing protocols and recent reports.
Extend Your Bottom Time
Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) extends no-decompression limits and reduces post-dive fatigue — ideal for multi-day liveaboard trips with several dives daily. There are two primary ways to produce it onboard.
Pure oxygen is added to a cylinder, then topped with air. Requires oxygen-clean cylinders, a highly trained blender, and per-tank analysis before each dive.
Air passes through a semi-permeable membrane that separates nitrogen, producing a consistent blend (typically EANx32 or 36). Continuous flow, safer — no pure-oxygen handling — and less labour-intensive.
